Medication education for kids and adults

Medication Education Videos for Kids, Parents and Patients

Qik Productions makes custom animated medication videos for kids, the parents caring for them, and adult patients. Each one answers the questions families usually call back about: how to take it, how to give it, what is normal, and when to call. Every video is reviewed by a specialized pharmacist in that medication area.

Questions answered

The questions a video answers before the phone rings

A new medication comes with the same handful of questions, whether the patient is a child or an adult, usually asked after the visit is over. Each video is built around the ones your patients actually ask.

  • How do I take it?

With food or without, what time of day, and what to do about a missed dose.

  • How do I give it to my child?

Measuring a liquid dose with an oral syringe in milliliters, and what to do if the dose comes back up.

  • How do I use this device?

Injection pens, inhalers and home infusion, shown step by step so the technique is clear.

  • What side effects are normal?

What to expect in the first days and weeks, so an expected effect does not end the treatment.

  • When should I call?

The signs that mean stop and phone the care team, kept separate from the ones that are expected.

  • How do I store it?

Fridge or room temperature, travel, and what to do with medication that has been left out.

For kids and parents

Videos for kids, and for the parents giving the medicine

Made for kids, in words they understand

Videos can speak to the child directly, in friendly animation, so they know why they take the medicine while the parent watches along.

Written for the person giving the dose

A parent measuring a liquid dose at the kitchen table needs different instructions than an adult taking a tablet. Scripts are written for whoever is actually giving the medication.

Example made for kids

Asthma for Kids: How Albuterol Helps You Breathe Easier

A friendly animated video that helps children understand asthma and how albuterol helps them breathe easier, pharmacist-reviewed like every Qik video. Qik's founder, Mina G. Yacoub, PharmD, BCPS, has spent six years of his practice in pediatrics and neonates.

How it works

From one medication to a video your patients can replay

  1. You tell us the medication and who takes it

The drug or device, whether the patient is a child or an adult, who gives the medication, and the questions your team keeps answering by phone.

  2. The script is reviewed by a specialist pharmacist

A specialized pharmacist with at least five years of experience in that area checks it for accuracy and plain language before anything is animated.

  3. We animate it

2D animation and motion graphics, built for your brand and your protocol. Nothing is pulled from a stock library.

  4. The finished video is reviewed again

The same pharmacist verifies the finished video, visuals and voice-over included, before it is final.

  5. It reaches your patients, your way

Embed it on your own website, host it on the Qik platform, or take it fully white label and receive the video file itself.

A custom video typically takes 3 to 4 weeks, depending on how quickly your team returns feedback. Videos run about two to three minutes.

Common questions

Questions about medication education videos

  • What is a medication education video?

A short animated video that explains one medication or medication type to kids, parents, adult patients or caregivers: how to take or give it, what to expect, and when to call. Qik makes each one custom for the organization that orders it.

  • Can you make medication videos for kids?

Yes, for kids themselves and for the parents giving the medicine. One example is our animated video for kids on asthma and albuterol. Qik's founder has spent six years of his practice in pediatrics and neonates.

  • Which medications can you cover?

Any medication area, for kids or adults. Each program is reviewed by a specialized pharmacist with at least five years of experience in that specific subject area, who checks the script and then the finished video.

  • Can the video match our protocol and brand?

Yes. Every video is built for your brand, your protocol and your patients rather than licensed from a stock library.

  • How long are the videos, and how long do they take?

Videos run about two to three minutes. A custom video typically takes 3 to 4 weeks, depending on how quickly your team returns feedback.

  • How do patients get the video?

Three ways. Embed it on your own website. Host it on the Qik platform and share it by QR code, text, email, direct link, branded landing page or waiting room screen. Or take it fully white label and receive the video file itself.

  • What languages do you produce in?

English is standard, and any language is available on request. Written transcripts are available.

  • Do we need an annual contract?

No. You can order one video at a time, with no annual contract and no minimum spend.
